Bequests
We also rely on bequests from caring people who name us as a beneficiary in their will. If you wish to leave the refuge a bequest to help us care for and re-home cats and dogs, the following wording should be placed in your will.
Charitable Gift
1. to give [insert amount of money]: OR
2. to give a [insert % amount] share of my estate]: OR
3. to give a [insert % amount] share of the rest and residue of my estate
(a) To SIPPY CREEK ANIMAL REFUGE SOCIETY trading as SUNSHINE COAST ANIMAL REFUGE SOCIETY (SCARS) to be applied for its general charitable purposes and in making this gift I express a charitable intention; and
(b) I declare that the receipt of the treasurer, secretary or other proper officer for the time being of SCARS shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executor.
Bequest Animal Programme
Bequests can be left to the refuge on condition that surviving cats and dogs are cared for, re-homed or fostered. The following wording is recommended;
I give to SIPPY CREEK ANIMAL REFUGE SOCIETY trading as SUNSHINE COAST ANIMAL REFUGE SOCIETY (SCARS)
(a) My surviving cats and/or dogs; and
(b) 1. The sum of [insert amount of money]; OR
2. [insert % of amount] share of my estate; OR
3. [insert % amount] share of the rest and residue of my estate
to SIPPY CREEK ANIMAL REFUGE SOCIETY trading as SUNSHINE COAST ANIMAL REFUGE SOCIETY (SCARS) for the general purposes of SCARS; on condition that my surviving cats and/or dogs be cared for under the SCARS Animal Bequest Programme or other relevant policy in place from time to time. The surviving cats and/or dogs will be cared for and accommodated at the refuge until they can be successfully re-homed or fostered.
(c) I declare that the receipt of the treasurer, secretary or other proper officer for the time being of SCARS shall be sufficient discharge to my Executor or Trustees.
